The next regular monthly meeting of the Lowndes County Republican Party will be held on Tuesday, May 20th at the Comfort Suites Valdosta. A Meet & Greet begins at 6:00 pm and the meeting at 6:30 pm. No meal is available on site, but there is a foot path from Texas Roadhouse restaurant to the meeting room door, in the event that you want to eat there before the meeting.
We’re pleased to have long-standing PSC Commissioner Tim Echols as our speaker. Commissioner Echols has been in the office for 15 years and prior to that he founded TeenPact, a national youth organization that he grew from inception to 38 states.
While on the Public Service Commission, Echols has pushed for policies that really make financial sense. No subsidies for solar. The utilization of compressed natural gas throughout the state at a time when New England states and western states have categorized it as coal’s evil stepsister.
Echols was instrumental and keeping plant Vogtle going, knowing that we needed massive baseload power for our future.
He and the Commissioners recently set new rules for data centers, making sure that they pay all incremental cost of generating and transmitting the power to their facilities.
Echols is an ordained minister and has a deep history of public service. Echols has been married to his wife, Windy for 41 years and they have seven children.
The Comfort Suites Valdosta is located at 1332 St. Augustine Rd., Valdosta, 31601. It is next to the Holiday Inn Express behind Denny’s restaurant near Exit 18 on I-75. At the traffic light, turn into the Denny’s parking lot and drive to the far back. There is ample parking. The meeting room can be accessed at a side door on the North side of the building, or by going through the lobby.
